Employment

CAHRD provides employment services and programs to Aboriginal clients through its Central Employment Service (funded through H.R.D.C. Labor Market Development Agreement), to recent graduates through Staffing Solutions (funded through Partners for Careers, a Federal and Provincial initiative) and to Aboriginal people with disabilities. In 2000, 1000 people were successfully placed into employment.

Central Employment Services:  The Employment Counsellor provides employment services: assessment, Employment Counselling, career exploration, resume and cover letter preparation, interview techniques, building confidence, and job search strategies and referrals. Our employer liaison coordinates incoming requests and referrals of workers to employers.

Staffing Solutions: Human Resource Consultants provide individualized employment service to recent graduates of high school, university, and training or vocational programs to make a successful transition into the workforce. Employers gain links to a growing resource of qualified, career-oriented Aboriginal people. Referrals are pre-screened and tested to fit employers specific needs.

Special Services for Aboriginal People with Disabilities: Provides in-house Counselling and referral to employment and training services as well as referrals to other programs and services for people with disabilities. The program has helped approximately 200 people with disabilities, 70 of whom have become employed.
